STAINLESS STEEL EXPANSION COMPENSATORS

Stainless steel expansion joints are elastic elements consisting of a multi-walled metal bellows, which absorbs axial, angular and lateral movements.

They are necessary in the event of misalignment along the pipes, thermal expansion, and vibrations. The stainless steel bellows are cold-formed hydraulically so as not to alter their initial structure or the material's strength. The use of multiple walls of varying thicknesses determines the axial hardness and maximum operating pressure.

Characteristics

  • AXIAL Axial compensators, consisting of one or more bellows, are designed to absorb axial movements.
  • CORNERS The cardan compensators, capable of absorbing the bottom thrust due to internal pressure, allow rotations around the axis coinciding with that of the hinges.
  • LATERALS Compensators equipped with double hinges allow the absorption of lateral movements on the same plane.
  • SPHERICAL The spherical compensators are equipped with spherical washers positioned at the ends of the tie rods, thus allowing them to absorb lateral movements in all planes.
  • UNIVERSAL Universal compensators, on the other hand, consist of two bellows and can absorb any combination of movements: axial, lateral, and angular.
  • Thrust Eliminated: Thrust eliminated compensators use mechanisms such as universal joints or hinges to allow rotational or translational movements without transmitting axial thrust to the anchor points or support structures of the piping system.
